Your ultimate burrito guide in Saigon

La Fiesta

La Fiesta, which means ‘party’ in Spanish, currently has 2 stores located at district 1 and district 7. They are owned by Mr. Scott who is from Maine, USA and his wife, Duc who is from Saigon. La Fiesta opened its first restaurant almost 5 years ago, back when Tex-mex cuisine wasn’t a big thing in Saigon yet.
The couple decided to take Tex-mex cuisine seriously as a business decision to stay competitive and has been attracting more and more frequent customers since then. Anyone would surely love the hospitality and more importantly, the amazing food here. So go with your family and friends to enjoy ‘la fiesta’!

Breakfast burrito has been a staple on the menu for a while but did you know that they can customise to turn it into a wet version?
This one in the picture below is a wet breakfast burrito. It has potatoes, chorizo and the red sauce on top is their new chipotle sauce! Even though it’s called wet breakfast burrito, you can surely order it all time all day.

And below is the breakfast scramble with scrambled eggs topped with sauce, some vegetables and black beans. It comes with hash browns and refried beans as well.

They have recently updated their burrito menu as well. The menu is perfected by Scott, the chef and owner himself.

They have many options for vegetarian and vegan as well, for instance, all sauces should be okay for vegan, and all burritos/bowls and chimichangas are available to choose 1 fillings not only from meat but also from tofu, spinach & mushroom. You can customise salads, tacos, burritos to vegetarian or vegan completely. If you are looking for the restaurant for vegetarian and vegan, we could recommend La Fiesta.

Tippy’s

Tippy’s Mexican Food is one of the nicest restaurants in Saigon which has a good reputation among customers. They currently have 2 stores located in D4 and D7, both are crowded with many people because they have a good atmosphere, friendly staff and many kinds of food and drink.

They have a great selection of burritos as well; 4 options like steak, pork, chicken and vegetarian, 5 styles of other ingredients, plus 10 more extra toppings, so you can customize from many options and find your favorite combination burrito.

If you can’t decide which one you want, try steak burritos. They are made using Australian fresh flank steak, which is really good taste and best with cheese.

They have not only a lot of standard burritos, but also breakfast burritos. Actually it’s available to order breakfast burritos all day!!

The price is more reasonable than other restaurants, all burritos is under 200k. It would be worth going many times!

Gringo Tacos y Cantina

Gringo Tacos y Cantina is another authentic gem in town and oh boy, it’s usually packed with customers!

Doug Stratton, the owner and chef in Gringo Tacos y Cantina, is from Southern California with a lot of Mexican food knowledge, and what he wants to do is to serve real Mexican food for people who live in HCMC. To do this, he tries to get various kinds of ingredients from Mexico and produce homemade items like crema, sauces and salsas.

They are serving various kinds of burritos, especially you should try Chimichangas, deep-fried burritos that are familiar to Mexican and Tex-Mex people. Select from 2 style of chimichangas ; “Dry” chimichangas are topped with homemade Mexican crema, “Gringo style” are topped with sauce you can choose, melted cheese, homemade Mexican crema & pico de gallo (chopped tomato, onion, and cilantro with lime juice mixed in)

You can definitely come here to enjoy authentic Mexican Chimichangas 😉

District federal

District Federal is a pop and pretty Mexican restaurant in D2. Interior decoration is colorful and amazing, which makes you excited.

The chef came from Mexico with his culinary experiences, and today they serve authentic Mexican cuisine for us .

Their original burritos, DF burritos, is made from many delicious ingredients such as refried beans, cheese, lettuce, red cabbage and one filling that you choose from five. Burritos come with Mexican rice and guacamole, so you can get full satisfaction.

The Boathouse

If you are looking for a place where you spend on the special day, go to The Boathouse.

The restaurant’s vibe doesn’t look so Mexican or Tex-Mex style, but modern and stylish restaurant where you would like to spend time with friends and family.  

The location is good; it’s near the Saigon river, away from the crowded city, so you can feel relaxed and enjoy the excellent view from there. We are pretty sure that you would have a lovely time with their live music.

They serve multi kinds of food; New American, Mexican, Seafood, International Grill and so on.

Burritos are so tasty and high quality as well.

Their highlights would be Grande burrito. It is topped with melted cheese and sauce, looks delicious, isn’t it?
